Saturday afternoon I headed to Astoria for dinner with Jon and his roommate, Andres. We ended up walking around to quite a few grocery stores in search of various ingredients before going back to their place to cook. Absolutely amazing and delicious thanksgiving inspired dinner. Lots of fun hanging around cooking and chatting.
Dinner included mushroom risotto, turkey with olives & capers (for the 2 guys), mashed potatoes, cranberries (Aunt Barb’s recipe yet again!), and salad with avocado, pomegrantes, apples and a homemade dressing. So so good.
Before dinner the guys had gone out to get a tree for their apartment so we cleaned up and got to work decorating it. Much craziness and chaos ensued. The night ended with salsa dancing lessons from Andres. Great way to spend a Saturday night. Sunday morning started off with a bagel at my trusty Astoria bagel spot before headed off to church. After church I ended up walking along the waterfront talking to mom & dad. Found some neat red adirondack chairs. Very overcast foggy morning but the sun peeked out eventually.
Dinner back in Brooklyn was leftover celery root soup (meal 4 with it – 2 more to go). Still super tasty! And tonight I even added homemade croutons with the leftover Farmigo bread that I had. Have some more meals planned for this week so I’ll need to finish it up quickly 🙂
