The Last of 2012

Kicked off the last day of the year with a run/walk through Prospect Park. Super chilly outside & almost no one else was around! It didn’t even feel like I was in NYC – so many trees and grass around. Didn’t end up being outside for too long because I was so cold and had a full day of plans and things to do!

Jon unfortunately had to work much of last week as well as Monday so he was at work all day. I got to work cleaning up my apartment, unpacking, cooking and doing other random items on my to do list. Surprisingly productive day!

Grocery store was really packed – guess everyone else had last minute food planning as well. Apparently being home during the day makes me more adventerous when it comes to cooking – I made eggplant “meatballs” and homemade rosemary bread! Along with pasta (sauce had mushrooms, onions & garlic) and arugula salad. It was nice to work on things here and there throughout the day and everything was ready by the time Jon got there at 7!

We had dinner and then cleaned up quickly before hopping on the train and heading to Queens. One of our friends was hosting a New Years Eve party at his house. Lots of fun hanging out with crazy hats & glasses and waiting for the ball to drop! Pretty weird to finally be in the same city as the ball but not actually there! We could see the Empire State Building from his window and that was going crazy with a light show throughout the night.

What a great way to end 2012 – so thankful for friends to celebrate with! This has been quite the eventful year (coming in a recap post tomorrow).

Happy 2013!
