Six Months in Brooklyn

Six months ago, yesterday, I moved to this giant city. What a better way to celebrate than by walking over the Brooklyn Bridge for the first time. It still blows my mind every day that this is my view from work. The subway ride to work includes a view of the Statue of Liberty and the Brooklyn/Manhattan Bridges are my view 8-9 hours every day.

Still wasn’t feeling terrific today (more on that in another post) but Jon & I took it slow. Ended up walking just over 4.5 miles from DUMBO, across the bridge, right down into the Financial District, underneath of One World Trade and then up into Tribeca. Stopped at a Mediterranean place that was pretty tasty. There were snow flurries all day which was pretty nice. Was hoping to get some more mileage in but we’ll save that for a day when I’m feeling better.I’ve discovered that it’s 11 miles from DUMBO to the top of Central Park. So there’s that. (Jon is less than pleased at this discovery).

  1. Hope you’re feeling better. I am so impressed with your accomplishment complete with flurries. Pictures of the bridge are awesome. My favorite is the brass statue of the dog leashed to the drinking fountain. Is it a step for small children drinking at the fountain. Hus, Nana
