Summer means packed nights, friends, ice cream and outdoor concerts. It’s fantastic and I think my apartment misses me.
A bunch of RIT kids are in NYC for the summer interning and one of them happens to be Christina who I worked with at RIT Admissions! Somehow we’ve made it halfway through her internship without seeing each other so we had to fix that! We met up after work one day last week with the intent of going to The Meatball Shop, a restaurant that has been on my list for ages. After discovering that it was a 45 minute wait, we decided to try elsewhere and settled on Taim Falafel just a few blocks away. It was a super tasty, hole in the wall, Mediterranean place. I had a pita filled with lots of hummus, roasted carrots, and some kind of cucumber salad. Definitely would go back!
To continue our catch up session, we wandered down a few more blocks and ended up at the Big Gay Ice Cream Shop, which has also been on my list. So. Many. Sprinkles. It was delicious and a great place to hang around and talk.
Another night last week I was going to go meet up with Jon in midtown when he mentioned that we should go to Brooklyn instead because the NY Philharmonic was playing in Prospect Park. Turned out to be an awesome idea! He unfortunately works pretty late but I finished work and then went home to make some pasta salad before going to the park.
Gorgeous night for sitting outside on a blanket under a tree with thousands of other people listening to some classical music. There was even a huge fireworks display at the end! Pretty much a picture perfect NYC summer night. Lightning bugs and everything.
